The University constantly seeks to market itself by exploiting the work of its undeniably talented and hard-working members of academic staff. The actions of the University itself undermine the fantastic research happening here on campus. We’ve put together a series of posters highlighting this.
The first one is attached – while academic research into poverty by UoB academics shows how many people in the country are struggling to cope, the University itself continues to resist a commitment to the only independent and needs based assessment of what people need to live on – the Real Living Wage. It also continues to give staff year on year of real-terms pay cuts while making millions of pounds a year in surpluses and investing hundreds of millions of pounds in infrastructure projects.
