I have nearly 20 years of experience within the HE sector. Before joining UoB I worked in various administrative roles in universities in London and the West Midlands. I have worked at UoB for nearly three years, and during that time have taken on three different roles. I came in as a Team Leader, then became a Deputy Learning and Teaching Manager, and now work as a part time welfare assistant in the School of Social Policy. Going part time has allowed me to work more consistently on my PhD.
Over the years Unison has been a huge help to me, and I was keen to give something back by becoming a Workplace Contact. I truly believe in the power of the union to help and support people, but also to fight for fairness and equality. I am happy to speak to people from any part of the University, so please do get in touch! I know from my own experience that asking for help and advice can be quite scary but is definitely worth doing.
