I’ve worked at the University for 3 and a half years having previously completed an MA in Film and Literature here in 2013. I’ve always been a Union member wherever I have worked and I wholeheartedly believe that having a strong Union in any workplace is hugely important. Unions give workers a voice that employers have to listen to and the stronger the Union the stronger the voice.
Having a strong voice means that collectively we have more power to negotiate across a wide number of important issues, most notably pay and working conditions, which can significantly benefit everyone that works at the University.
Being a workplace contact means that I can provide a link between the Committee and members or prospective members in my department. I can help share information about the Union’s campaigns as well as raise questions on our member’s behalf.
