Living Wage Event on campus (Thursday 30th May) with Liam Byrne MP | Don’t break the union, vote in the strike ballot now!
On Thursday 30th May, Liam Byrne MP, will be on campus (12.30pm – 1.30pm, Murray Learning Centre, UG07) to talk about how to persuade the University to become a Real Living Wage employer.
Liam made headlines recently when he turned down an honour from the University because of its ongoing refusal to formally accredit as a Living Wage employer. Please come along to the event to show your support to ending poverty for University of Birmingham staff!
Don’t break the union – Vote in the strike ballot now!
You have less than a week to get your strike ballot in the post in time to meet the deadline.
Whatever the result of the ballot, voting will show the University how engaged and active our members are and will directly influence how much we can achieve in negotiations about everything, including restructures and terms and conditions.
Not voting does real damage to the union – our willingness to take action together to protect each other and to improve working conditions at the University is what union membership is for!
The strength of the union comes from you and part of that is using your voice to agree democratically on what action the union should take in response to unprecedented pay restraint and threats to terms and conditions.
