UNISON’s committee has taken the very difficult decision that tomorrow’s AGM should be postponed.

While the UK government and official scientific advisors are not yet recommending gatherings and meetings are cancelled, Birmingham University UNISON have decided to follow a precautionary approach, not least because we recognise that a number of members would have felt particularly anxious about attending a meeting of 50+ people in the current climate.

Under UNISON rules we are required to hold an AGM every year between January and March to elect officers, so this cancellation does put us in an unprecedented situation.

To deal with this, your committee are going to discuss ways of holding officer elections electronically or by post – please keep an eye on your email as well as our facebook and twitter feeds for more information. We will also be posting updates and advice on the situation at the University here as quickly as we can.
