UNISON general secretary election – use your vote!
The general secretary is the most senior role in the union. They represent UNISON when talking to the media, other unions, employers and to Parliament. UNISON has to elect its general secretary every five years and the vote is now open. Look out for an envelope that looks like this posted to your home address.

It’s simple to vote – just open the envelope, read the candidate’s statements carefully and make your choice. Then simply post back your vote in the freepost envelope to any postbox.
Why we nominated Andrea Egan

We’re backing Andrea Egan for General Secretary because she:
- Will take the wage of a social worker, not the £181,000 package our current General Secretary receives. Andrea’s pay will go up when yours does.
 - Opposes unconditional support for the Labour Party. UNISON members will come first under Andrea’s leadership.
 - Will resource branches so we can better support you, improving access to legal advice.
 - Andrea will give us the support we need in Higher Education campaigns. She has shown real commitment to proper funding and fairer pay for our sector.
